Plastic coatings are applied to fencing products for two reasons – corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Due to limited technology in South Africa the most common choice of coating on fencing products has traditionally been Polyester (powder coating) – that is, up until now.
When compared to powder coating, PVC has many unique advantages that, if the technology were available, would make it the first choice in coating. The technology has been available in Europe for some time and Betafence NV has efficiently been coating fencing products there in PVC. For the first time now, this technology is being brought to South Africa.
